Playing God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn on PC requires a PSN account
PC players will need a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to play God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn. With the successful PC launches of Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima earlier this year, which saw significant commercial success, it was anticipated that more PlayStation exclusives would follow. At the recent State of Play event, Sony confirmed that both the remastered version of the horror game Until Dawn, developed by Ballistic Moon, and the major PlayStation 5 exclusive God of War Ragnarok will be released on PC in the future.
New Policy for PlayStation Exclusives on PC
Following these announcements, Sony reiterated its policy regarding PlayStation exclusives on PC. According to the official PlayStation blog, players will need a PSN account to play God of War Ragnarok on PC. This requirement is noteworthy because the game is entirely single-player with no multiplayer or online components. Similarly, the upcoming remaster of Until Dawn will also require a PSN account for PC play.
Previous Controversy and Current Stance
Sony previously caused controversy by announcing the need to link a Steam account with PSN to play Helldivers 2, a decision they later reversed. However, they have confirmed that playing the cooperative Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima on PC requires a PSN account.
Release Dates
God of War Ragnarok will be released on PC on September 19, 2024. The remaster of Until Dawn is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC this fall.
For PC gamers eager to dive into these PlayStation exclusives, creating or linking a PSN account will be a necessary step.
